We are storytelling animals. Every experience we have, from past to future, is shaped by the words we choose to tell it. Language defines who we are and weaves us together. By naming the world, we teach our eyes how to see it.

This worm up expercise is an invitation to explore a power you already hold: the power to create stories through language and to shape reality through the words you choose. There are no right answers. But your responses may reveal something about your power as a storyteller and the worlds you are creating.

Tracing Belonging: Language as Ecology — A Dialogic Artistic Research:

Tracing Belonging is a hybrid artistic research project that establishes a critical dialogue between artistic practice and linguistic inquiry, specifically drawing on the ecolinguistic theories of Michael Halliday.

The project engages the disarticulation of meaning resulting from environmental and cultural breakdowns, working through vocabularies, semantic structures, and linguistic practices as sites where mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion are produced and sustained, and where communities articulate their relation to territories and ecosystems.
Through dialogic and participatory artistic methodologies — including speculative fabulation, design of situated exercises, questions as method, and dialogue as pedagogical space — the project approaches language as a material to be spoken, collected, shared, and transformed within situated encounters.
